Rogic 2.0: Director confirms Celtic "interest" in "exciting" £5m star

By h79snht.top

da jogodeouro: Celtic may still be in the market to bolster the options available to Brendan Rodgers before the summer transfer window slams shut at the start of September.

da brwin: Some Hoops supporters have begun to question the speed at which the club are doing their business and the money spent so far, as shown by this not-so-subtle post by Everything Celtic on X recently.

The Scottish Premiership champions are looking to add to the squad with more attacking reinforcements, though, as has been confirmed by the manager himself.

Rodgers recently claimed that Celtic “need” to replace the players they have lost in the attacking areas of the pitch, such as Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo Furuhashi, this year already.

Celtic have interest in Eredivisie talent

The Hoops are active in the market to bring in new recruits, as it has been confirmed by the managing director of another club that the Scottish giants are keen on one of their players.

Go Ahead Eagles managing director Jan Willem van Dop has confirmed that Celtic have had an “interest” in Danish attacking midfielder Jakob Breum.

Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, as relayed by Sport Witness, the Dutch chief said: “There was some interest from Celtic for Jakob Breum, but we felt the gap was too wide. Things moved very quickly around Oliver Antman and Glasgow Rangers. Celtic could have taken a leaf out of Rangers’ book, haha.”

Willem van Dop, whilst taking a dig at the Hoops, has revealed that there was not enough money on the table to make a deal happen, but did not rule out them coming back to it.

It now remains to be seen whether or not Celtic will go back in with another offer to sign the Danish youngster, who is reportedly valued at £5m, from the Dutch side before the end of the window.

Why Celtic should sign Jakob Breum

The Hoops should go back in with another attempt to snap the young gem up because he has the potential to be the new Tom Rogic for Rodgers.

Former Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic.

During his time at Parkhead, the Australia international provided a threat as a goalscorer from an attacking midfield position, scoring 35 goals in 165 starts as a number ten, and 46 goals in 272 appearances in all positions combined.

Celtic do not play with an out-and-out number ten at the moment, as they typically deploy a 4-3-3 system, but the signing of Breum, who was described as an “exciting” talent by Sport Republic video scout RDF Tactics, would provide Rodgers with an opportunity to mix things up.

As you can see in the table above, the Danish talent ranked highly among attacking midfielders in the Eredivisie as both a scorer and a creator of goals for Go Ahead Eagles.

These statistics suggest that the potential is there for him to be an effective number ten option for Celtic, as Rogic was with his 46 goals and 51 assists in all competitions for the club.

Breum, who can also play out wide, could help to transform Celtic’s system into more of a 4-2-3-1 when selected as a number ten, providing a greater threat from central areas, as was the case when Rogic played there for Rodgers in the manager’s first spell in charge.

That is why this could be a shrewd signing for the Hoops because he is a quality young player who could help the head coach to adapt his system and add a new dimension to the attack.
